| Freak Show, Vol. I (1998) | |

The first of the "Freak Show" series of discs , Vol. 1 was made up of recordings of a handful of rehearsals lifted straight off the mixing board. We would later stop recording this way when Mark switched to playing acoustic drums in practices - tracking problems made the electronic kit difficult to keep in sync. All of the recordings in this series were unedited, raw, and unpolished... many of the tracks were unrehearsed improvisation. This discs begins with the classic "I Dream Of Jeanie", which just sort of "happened" while we were warming up... It showcases Monty's ability to ramble nonsensically... and what you hear is the first thing we played that evening. Other tracks include "Family of Satan, the jam that sparked the later song of the same name, as well as a few pieces that feature Scott Wedel on the Chapman Stick. |
